Running the Rome Marathon

Running the Rome Marathon

By Emil Anton
ROME -- On Sunday, April 10, Rome closed much of its centre to traffic and opened it to marathon runners from all over the world. One of the members of The Lay Centre, Rebecca Cohen, made an almost last-minute decision to do the entire marathon, and she successfully completed the 42-km course after a painstaking run. Rebecca said this was her first (and last) marathon, though her friends doubt it.
Four other members and two friends of The Lay Centre took part in the "Roma Fun Run," a 5-km run suitable to all, including children and dogs. The route included the Circo Massimo and its surroundings -- a truly spectacular setting for a city run, with the ruins of the Imperial Palace complex on the Palatine in full view.
