The Role of Women in International Peacebuilding: Jewish, Chirstian & Muslim Perspectives (Video Clips)

This colloquium featured three prominent scholars involved in peacebuilding in some the most troubled areas of the world. The event culminates the 25th anniversary celebration of the Lay Centre and marks the beginning of its alliance with the Catholic Theological Union (Chicago, USA).

 

Dr. Sarah Bernstein

Dr. Sarah Bernstein is a peace activist and researcher living in Jerusalem. She has been in the field of peacebuidling and coexistence for over ten years, specializing in interreligious dialogue between Israeli and Palestinian women.

 

Dr. Ruth Patterson

Rev. Ruth Patterson O.B.E. is a Presbyterian Minister from Belfast, Northern Ireland, who for the last twenty years has been Director of Restoration Ministries, and Interdenominational organization promoting peace, healing and reconciliation.

 

Dr. Aida Abadzi Hodzi

Dr. Aida Abadzi Hodzic is a Senior lecturer at the Chair for History of Art, Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo. She graduated in History of Art and French language and literature form the University of Zagreb.

On Thursday, 1 December, the Lay Centre welcomed Dr. Sarah Bernstein from Israel, Rev. Dr. Ruth Patterson from Northern Ireland, and Dr. Aida Abadzic Hodzic from Bosnia, to share their insights and experience on women's roles in international peacebuilding. The event marked the 25th anniversary of Rome's Lay Center at Foyers Unitas. Even though international peace building isn't simple, speakers stressed that it's not impossible.
