2007 - 2008 Program Schedule
Women at the Well of God's Wisdom and Wonder
Rev. Stephen Rehrauer, CSsR
October 11, 18, 25;
November 8, 15, 22 & 29; December 6
Suggested Contribution: 200 €
The great men of the Hebrew Scriptures are well known and references are often made to their importance in the development of our faith tradition. The equally great women, all instruments of God’s divine power and grace, are less known and their importance often insufficiently appreciated. In this course we will look at the great women of the Hebrew Scriptures and their pivotal role in the unfolding of the history of God’s plan of salvation. Consideration of these women can lead us to deeper insight into our own place and importance in the continued unfolding of God’s saving work in the world today.
Rev. Stephen Rehrauer, CSsR, is associate professor of moral theology at the Accademia Alfonsiana in Rome and the Istituto Superior de Ciencias Morales in Madrid.

Seeing Salvation: Christian Spirituality in Art
Reverend Anthony McSweeney SSS & Donna Orsuto
January 10, 17, 24, 31; February 7, 14
Suggested Contribution: €150
Dostoyevsky's often-quoted sentence, “Beauty will save the world,” refers to Love’s redeeming work revealed in the beauty of Jesus Christ. One approach to the history of Christian spirituality is to reflect on the beauty of Christ reflected in Christian art in various moments of history. Whether a catacomb sketch of the good shepherd, the graceful Ravenna Mosaics of the Madonna and Child, the Pietà of Michelangelo, or the Contemporary mosaics of Christ in the Redemptoris Mater chapel, they help us to grasp various dimensions of Christian spirituality that are so relevant for our experience of God today.
Rev. Anthony McSweeney, SSS, is the former Superior
General of the Blessed Sacrament Fathers and Director of the Center EUCHARISTIA
in Rome. He is an internationally respected retreat director and teacher.
Donna Orsuto is the Director of the Lay Centre at Foyer Unitas and a Professor of Spiritual Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University.
